patch 8.0.1177: in a terminal window the popup menu is not cleared

Problem:    In a terminal window the popup menu is not cleared. (Gerry
            Agbobada)
Solution:   Redraw when SOME_VALID is used instead of NOT_VALID. (closes
            #2194)
